About PlasticDB
A Comprehensive Resource for Plastic Biodegradation
PlasticDB is a database that organises information about microorganisms and proteins involved in the biodegradation of plastics. It contains data on hundreds of species and hundreds of proteins associated with the degradation of various plastic types.
All entries in PlasticDB are derived from experimentally verified data published in peer-reviewed scientific literature. Unlike databases that include computationally predicted proteins, every protein in PlasticDB has documented experimental evidence of plastic-degrading activity.
The database covers a wide range of plastics including PET, PHB, PHA, PLA, polyurethane, nylon, and many others. Each entry is linked to the scientific literature where the degradation activity was originally reported.
