Microorganism and protein counts are degraders only — entities with at least one experimentally positive result. Records that were tested with negative or inconclusive outcomes are not counted here. What does this mean?

Number of degrading microorganisms (at least one positive degradation result, tested whole or through an enzyme purified from them) reported as isolated from each environment. An organism isolated from several environments is counted under each, so the segments can add up to more than the degrader total. Top 10.
Plastics with the most degrading microorganisms
Number of distinct microorganisms with at least one positive degradation result for each plastic (tested whole, or through an enzyme purified from them). An organism that degrades several plastics is counted under each one. Top 10.
